Lesser Calamint (Clinopodium nepeta) is a perennial herb whose leaves and herbs are dried for use in teas, tonics, and topical preparations. It is routinely used to support the immune system and to help relieve colds and influenza, and has also been employed, as an adjunct, for chronic diarrhoea, edema, abnormal uterine bleeding, diabetes, and as a mild cardiotonic. It is generally well tolerated, though high doses may cause mild gastrointestinal upset, and it should be used with caution by people on antidiabetic medications, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
